Our Ministerial mandate includes the following:
- Conduct thorough and comprehensive investigations into criminal allegations related to real properties. This includes forceful entry, illegal occupation, violent takeovers, fraudulent sales/resales, destruction of property, extortion, threats and other self-help actions.
- Protect legitimate property owners from violent or fraudulent disruptions and ensure they can enjoy peaceful possession and development of their properties.
- Enforce the provisions of the 2016 Law by taking appropriate actions based on investigation outcomes, including arrests and supporting full prosecution.
- Collaborate with security agencies (Police, Amotekun, etc.) and the Office of the Attorney-General/Ministry of Justice for effective enforcement and prosecution.
- Receive, process and investigate petitions from the public (free of charge) and promote public awareness to discourage self-help in land matters.
