The significance of land and landed property in the social and economic development of any nation cannot be overstated. Land serves multiple purposes for both citizens and government, including the construction of residential buildings, the establishment of industrial estates, and the facilitation of agricultural activities.

Given its importance, it is essential that the rightful ownership and possession of land and other real properties are properly established and safeguarded against the activities of land grabbers and other unscrupulous individuals in society.

In response to this need, and to protect the rights of property owners while prohibiting forceful entry, illegal occupation, and all forms of violent and fraudulent practices relating to real property in Oyo State, the Oyo State Real Properties Protection Law, 2016 was enacted. This led to the inauguration of the Task Force Unit by His Excellency, the Executive Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, FNSE, on 2nd September, 2022.
