Investigation of Land-Related Offences
- Receives petitions and complaints from the public regarding land disputes and property-related crimes.
- Conducts thorough and unbiased investigations into allegations such as:
- Land grabbing
- Forceful entry and illegal occupation
- Fraudulent land transactions
- Determines facts and applies relevant provisions of the Law.
Enforcement of the Law
- Ensures strict compliance with the provisions of the Real Properties Protection Law, 2016.
- Recommends prosecution of offenders where criminal liability is established.
- Works to deter illegal activities through enforcement actions and legal consequences (including imprisonment for offenders).
Case Processing and Investigation Procedure
- Registration and documentation of petitions
- Assignment of cases to Investigation Officers
- Invitation and interrogation of parties and witnesses
- Field inspections and verification of claims
- Preparation of investigation reports and legal advice
- Forwarding cases for prosecution where necessary
Collaboration with Stakeholders
The Task Force operates through inter-agency collaboration with:
- Security agencies (Police, NSCDC, Amotekun Corps)
- Ministry of Justice
- Ministry of Lands and Surveyor-General’s Office
- Bureau of Physical Planning
- Local Government and Chieftaincy institutions
