Investigation of Land-Related Offences

  • Receives petitions and complaints from the public regarding land disputes and property-related crimes.
  • Conducts thorough and unbiased investigations into allegations such as:
    • Land grabbing
    • Forceful entry and illegal occupation
    • Fraudulent land transactions
  • Determines facts and applies relevant provisions of the Law.

Enforcement of the Law

  • Ensures strict compliance with the provisions of the Real Properties Protection Law, 2016.
  • Recommends prosecution of offenders where criminal liability is established.
  • Works to deter illegal activities through enforcement actions and legal consequences (including imprisonment for offenders).

Case Processing and Investigation Procedure

  • Registration and documentation of petitions
  • Assignment of cases to Investigation Officers
  • Invitation and interrogation of parties and witnesses
  • Field inspections and verification of claims
  • Preparation of investigation reports and legal advice
  • Forwarding cases for prosecution where necessary

Collaboration with Stakeholders

The Task Force operates through inter-agency collaboration with:

  • Security agencies (Police, NSCDC, Amotekun Corps)
  • Ministry of Justice
  • Ministry of Lands and Surveyor-General’s Office
  • Bureau of Physical Planning
  • Local Government and Chieftaincy institutions

This collaboration enhances effective investigation, enforcement, and dispute handling.
